According to LinkedIn profiles, everyday workers are making a move despite the pandemic.  Using data from April 2020 to October 2020, LinkedIn analyzed zip code changes made by it’s 174 million members.  Based on that data, Phoenix ranked #2 for most newcomers between April 2020 and October 2020.

For every one person that moved out of The Valley of the Sun, 1.48 people moved in.  Phoenix fell slightly behind Austin, TX, where for every one person who moved out, 1.53 people moved in.  According to LinkedIn, Hartford, New York and San Francisco were the cities that topped the list for cities losing the most residents during the height of the pandemic.

The top 10 cities that gained the most newcomers between April 2020 and October 2020 are:

  1. Austin, TX
  2. Phoenix, AZ
  3. Nashville, TN
  4. Tampa, FL
  5. Jacksonville, FL
  6. Charlotte, NC
  7. Dallas, TX
  8. Denver, CO
  9. Las Vegas, NV
  10. Charleston, SC

Cost of living and quality of life were among the reasons why people were moving into the above cities.  With more people are working from home as a result of COVID 19,  many found that they could get more for their money when it came to housing and a lower cost of living moving from “big cities” to suburban areas.
